As a member of Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), you join the state's leading affordable housing and community development organization. For over 50 years, we have served the state's housing and community development needs.
Minnesota NAHRO offers members an opportunity to sharpen skills and broaden education, discover a network of knowledge and experience, become a leader in the field and make a difference. In these challenging times, Minnesota NAHRO provides timely information, affordable trainings, online resources as well as legislative advocacy.
The Value of Membership - 2012 Highlights
Because of the support of our members, in 2012 Minnesota NAHRO was able to:
- Provide professional development throughout the year including two statewide conferences which brought together over 200 industry professionals from across the state and the Leadership Retreat which introduced a finance track
- Lead the effort to secure GO Bonds for Public Housing Rehabilitation resulting in $5.5 million in state resources
- Partnered with key stakeholders to secure $30 million in housing infrastructure bonds, a new tool for the production and preservation of affordable housing
- Passed legislation to ensure state Landlord/Tenant laws aligned with HUD late fees policies
- Provided online resources such as resource library and member blog (November launch) tailored to help our members find answers quickly and learn from peers
- Provided member input to key funding agencies including HUD, MHFA, DEED & GMHF
- Provided timely information on issues important to our members including federal & state policy, job postings, funding opportunities and new resources
- Awarded three post-secondary education scholarships to residents served by the housing programs administered by Minnesota NAHRO agency members
- Recognized outstanding leaders from the Minnesota NAHRO community including Senator John Pederson, Kim Brethein, Kari Gill, Dara Lee and Barbara Sipson
2013 Membership Rates & What to Expect in 2013
Minnesota NAHRO did not change the rates for 2013 and worked hard to keep dues as low as possible while continuing to provide quality member services and resources. As a member, you support Minnesota NAHRO in its efforts to serve the state’s housing and community development needs. Agency members receive conference discounts, program and funding updates plus access to online resources. For 2013, Minnesota NAHRO is working hard to offer new and continuing member benefits including:
- Serve as host to the NCRC, the eight state NAHRO regional delegation during our Spring Conference in St Paul on May 15-17
- Lead in the effort to secure state and federal funding for affordable housing
- Grow our online resources for our members and provide an updated member directory
- Serve as a catalyst for our members so they can provide feedback on program and administrative concerns with key agencies
- Keep our members informed by providing timely updates and opportunities for members to connect with decision makers
